Cal, a floundering New York actress, is crushed when she learns that her childhood “soulmate,” Jacob, has a serious girlfriend, Emily. Feeling unfulfilled by disappointing auditions and relentless pressure to find her path in life, Cal seeks out a new companion in Emily. This new relationship opens up an exciting social life for Cal but causes her to neglect her best friend Bobby in the process. As Bobby becomes increasingly concerned about Cal’s shifting priorities, their friendship disintegrates, along with Cal’s sense of self. Meanwhile, Cal’s relationship with Emily and Jacob develops in unexpected and incendiary ways.
