Searchers (2023)

Zimbelism (2017)

Searchers draws on over seventy-five encounters with New Yorkers of different races, genders, ages, social classes, and sexual preferences, as they navigate their preferred dating apps, searching for their special someone. The film unfolds online; the characters, including the director himself, wade through apps, using their instincts and experience to decode dating profiles while narrating their decision-making process. Alternately humorous and touching, these portraits capture the variety of sexual and romantic experiences available online, as well as the diverse community of people seeking them out. Interspersed between these character vignettes, the film features moments of public affection, set against the backdrop of a bustling New York City enduring its COVID summer.
